Cranberry Chocolate Energy Bites

Cranberry Chocolate Energy Bites

These Cranberry Chocolate Chip Energy Bites are a game changer. We used to pack granola bars in our lunches for work. That worked fine for a while, but we would inevitably forget to buy them at the grocery store. That sounds fine, but because we’re both pretty busy, the first couple of days of the week would be pretty hungry until one of us could get to the store again to buy them.

And let me tell you something: when we’re hungry…

We get hangry.

Like…scary hungry. It’s normally fine, but as soon as we’re with another person, things get dicey.

But, that all changed when we found Chocolate Energy Bites

Once we started making these, we broke off our long-standing relationship with granola bars and started our new, better life with Energy Bites.

There are different kinds of these Energy Bites all over the internet, but we decided to make our own version that fit our tastes and preferences perfectly.  We needed something that would emulate those granola bars that we always used to eat, but with more wholesome and better for you ingredients.

Oh, and they had to be easier than buying granola bars at the store. A tall order, I know, but these totally do that for us.

The Energy Bite “Magic Bullet”

The basic formula for these starts off with oats, peanut butter, and some kind of liquid sweetener to make a sticky mixture that holds together when you roll it.

This is also pretty flexible.

You could use certified gluten-free oats if you’re gluten-free.

If you have a preferred liquid sweetener (we used agave nectar), you could use that.

Or, if you’re allergic to nuts, you could use sunflower butter!

You could also choose whatever mix-ins you want to. We decided on chocolate chunks and dried cranberries, but you could do nuts, seeds, or whatever else you want.

The choice is yours!

We also highly recommend a cookie scoop for this recipe. If you don’t have one or don’t know what it is, we use it all the time for a bunch of different recipes.

We do scoop cookies, but also stuff like falafel and these energy bites. We have this one, but you’re welcome to choose one that fits your needs.

For this recipe, you could also just use your fingers, a spoon, or an ice cream scoop.
